Though coffee tables and accents are a great way to spruce your interiors, they may not serve their purpose for a long time if they are not maintained well. So, you need to clean them at regular intervals.

When you clean side tables, first rub them with a rough cloth or a scrubber to remove the dirt hidden in tiny crevices. If there are tiny holes in the woodwork ensure that all the dirt is removed from them. Fill those holes with slightly melted colored wax and press it, so that the wax evenly covers the hole. Clean your side table sets preferably with oil-based cleaners rather than alcohol-based ones. Apply the cleaner on the table and buff it with a cloth rag, don’t wash it off.

After you have cleaned the coffee tables and accents, apply pure oil on them. Teak oil is a special oil that can be used to protect occasional tables made from this wood. There are several lemon based oils also that you can use to protect your accent tables. Let the oil soak into the wood for 15 minutes and apply another coat of oil. After the oil has completely soaked into the wood, buff it with a soft cloth to make them shine.

Got cats at home? They probably scratch and spoil your wooden furniture. To protect your coffee tables from scratches, wrap the furniture with plastic foil, aluminum foil, or double sided tape. You can use orange peel or bitter apple on the table legs to deter your cats from scratching them.

If you have crayon marks on your wooden coffee tables and accents, first dust the stained area. Wipe it with a damp cloth or sponge to remove accumulated dirt. Make a paste using starch and water and apply it on the crayon stain. Let the paste remain on the stain for about three hours till it gets hard. Then use a damp cloth to wipe off the paste along with the crayon stains.

It is very easy to clean glass-topped accent tables. You can use either vinegar or a glass cleaner to clean the glass top of the table. Spray the glass cleaner on the top and wipe it off with a piece of newspaper. If you want to use vinegar, mix equal parts of water and vinegar, and spray it on the table. Wipe it off with newspaper to get a clean sparkling finish.
